With Rental Company BIBERGER

A digital business philosophy for the future

A “born digital” company and a pioneer in the market of construction equipment rental, BIBERGER sets new standards.

For many people, it has become so commonplace that they hardly think about it anymore. You get into the car in the morning and simply drive off without ever having pulled a key out of your pocket. Upon arriving at the office, the door opens smoothly with the swipe of a card.

For the two brothers Martin and Benjamin Biberger, it was clear from the beginning: customers have already come to appreciate the comfort of digitization in their everyday lives – why should it be any different at work?

The two entrepreneurs have consistently pursued this mindset since founding BIBERGER in 2017. As a specialist in access technology, the German company emphasizes a modern rental fleet of aerial work platforms and forklifts. However, the real added value arises from uncomplicated and smooth customer service.

Laser focused on the essentials

It’s no secret that machines on construction sites are often more or less freely accessible via standard keys. Consequently, downtime often occurs due to damage or because equipment needs to be searched for.

Digital access control, as we have implemented with Trackunit, was a real game changer for us,” says Martin. With Trackunit DualID, they can precisely track who had access to which machine, thus preventing unauthorized use. The rate of unauthorized machine use at BIBERGER is negligible, at less than 1%, and significantly reduced repair costs.

Of course, this type of access control improves cost figures, but there is another factor that convinces BIBERGER. More transparency in access management also reduces the potential for conflict with customers and saves discussions about damaged and lost equipment. This benefits the customer service employees.

“A consistently positive customer contact contributes a lot to a better working atmosphere, and we can focus on things that benefit both the customer and us directly, instead of having endless discussions,” says Martin.

And the solution is well-received by customers. Even those who initially approached the system with skepticism quickly recognized the value of the digital solution.

“Often, it is even the case that new customers approach us because they have experienced our solution on the construction site. So new customers come to us who are already excited about us before they even work with us. It can hardly be better than that.”

“Of course, this type of access control initially entails an investment, but we have never looked back and would choose it again anytime,” Benjamin adds.

A crucial side effect

In an industry that struggles to attract the younger generation, progress through digitization plays a significant role and creates competitive advantages. For the two founders of BIBERGER, digitization is not only relevant in customer contact but also when it comes to attracting new talent.

“If you anchor the joy of innovation and technology in the business philosophy and you’re leading in what you do and will continue to do so for the next few years, then, from our experience, you will have little trouble finding new, motivated colleagues,” says Benjamin.

The company is proud to have positioned itself as a digital company from the very beginning. “There are so many opportunities to organize and automate processes in a smart way to be able to focus on the essentials. And that doesn’t just translate into doing more work in less time, but also in having time for family and personal life.”

What is a bottleneck for growth for many companies in the construction industry is solved here through a holistic approach.

What the Future Holds

Since its founding in 2017, BIBERGER has grown from 4 to a proud 60 employees today and always keeps the future firmly in mind. Because even if business is running smoothly, the work is never done, and there are always new things that can be improved.

At BIBERGER, automation, way beyond access management, will continue to play a major role in the future. The further integration of telematics data into ERP systems is the focus here initially.

Benjamin is convinced that this next step is another step in the right direction. “Our previous experience with Trackunit gives us great confidence that we have the right technology partner by our side for further company growth.”
