Improving Everyday Life with AI – Get this journey started!

At Predict Summit 2020 we met with industry experts and thought leaders to discuss how AI enables construction to eliminate downtime. Here we capture the highlights of key note speakers at he event. Let's here it from Joel Särkkä, Renta.

AI will improve your business model. AI offers better understanding of what we do and how we improve our processes. In the end, the Renta business model is simple: Renta buys machines, customers rent the machines, customers return the machines, we service and re-rent. Within that process we have implemented AI to be as efficient as possible. We gather data to improve and adapt systems to make the customer experience better.

  • Buying the machines – type and when to buy, who should we buy from.
  • Depot – Which depot, rental readiness,
  • Right machine to the right location,
  • Empower the customer, the best possible experience

The Renta Digi Office is only focused on creating solutions and services that make our business more efficient. A core principle is that the AI investment must impact and improve one of the core business processes. For that, a lot of effort is placed on finding the right partners and build the ecosystem. Lastly, interaction with AI must be effortless for the employees and customers.

Renta gets the AI party started!

A recent AI project was an Inspection Model for returning machines: the AI model detects which machines are in the rotation process in the depot and prioritizes the machine based on:

  • Demand – is this machine in high demand?
  • Machine Condition – general cleaning, servicing, minor / serious repair.
  • Inventory Status – Star and colour status rating provide service staff with an easy to use list of machine jobs.
  • Results: Improving data feedback, higher machine availability, less machine service costs and improved customer loyalty.

The flow of data received every day is allowing Renta to plan with greater accuracy machines lifecycles, providing higher availability and improved customer experience.

AI is extending capabilities, not replacing people. There will not be a robot serving you the next time you come to Renta.
