Product Updates: October – December 2023

trackunit-2024-q4-product-updates

We closed off 2023 in a BIG way, ending up with 40 launches in 12 months. This last quarter our launches focused around enhancing our current product offerings and delivering data that helps you do more. Built with your feedback from the Trackunit Product Portal, this article outlines our Q4 2023 product updates.

Iris APIs

The APIs our team develops enable you to easily share information, simplify day-to-day business, and streamline workflow by funneling all of your data into the platform of your choice. We’ve been hard at work and have launched three new Iris APIs in Q4 2023, and improved your overall API experience.

Enriched API Access

Our enriched API access makes it easier to differentiate the purpose and use of each API key, by using appropriate names and descriptions. Tracking last activity allows you to keep an eye on unused keys and keep a tight access security, by removing inactive keys. The metadata used to help you track API keys now includes creation date, last activity, and creator details for each API key.

Time Series API

Time Series API is an enhanced offering to the ISO 15143-3 as it provides near real-time data frequency and is equipped for advanced querying.  Time Series API opens up opportunities to find improper use of an asset, calculate precision usage, or utilisation of an asset. The API endpoints make for a great data source for apps built via our App SDK.

Location API

Location API provides effortless access to real-time GPS coordinates across connected programs for all assets within your fleet. Data can be delivered either at a fleet level or narrowed down to individual assets. Additional metadata like speed of an asset and location address are also included in the overview.

GraphQL API

GraphQL API provides you with precise fine-grained filtering to avoid over-fetching or under-fetching of data. GraphQL provides the opportunity for flexible queries, enabling you to retrieve multiple related resources in a single request, which minimizes the number of requests and optimizes network efficiency.

New in Trackunit Manager

Fleet Map Improvements

Fleet Map is the wayfinder providing our customers with the information required to hone in on key action items for their fleet. As a critical factor in day-to-day business, we finetuned the way we display clusters and asset identifiers, and integrated Sites into the overall Fleet Map view.

Enhanced Filtering Capabilities

We’ve introduced a new and intuitive way to filter data in Trackunit Manager. This change is designed to house all filters in one central location to help streamline your filtering process. This change largely surrounds moving Sites and Groups filtering options to the regular filter bar. The new filter placement enables smarter filtering and a consolidated view.

Admin Features

At times, our team needs access to your Trackunit account, but we’re setting a standard in account management and prioritizing your privacy and operational efficiency. Review, accept, or decline account access requests from Trackunit team members with our new Support Access Consent feature.

This added layer of control ensures that you have oversight of who can access your account. Additionally, you will have the ability to view and revoke ongoing access requests at any time.

Read this Help Center article to learn more about how to manage support access requests.

Asset Visibility(Outside Hierarchy)

Visibility sharing is a core business model, but ensuring control of what’s shared and what visibility customers pay for is a crucial concern. We’ve established a new feature to help establish more transparent communication between sender and recipient.

You can now send requests to share visibility, but not ownership, of an asset with accounts outside your own hierarchy. This feature empowers the recipient with the freedom to choose whether they want to accept visibility of the asset or not.

Increased Visibility

Last Seen By

With the new feature “Last seen by” on Kin tag you can now see which machine or Gateway picked up the signal of your Kin-tagged asset.

“Last seen by” allows you to:

  • Gain clarity on your assets’ location, including job site-specific asset locations (floors, zones, sections) with Trackunit Beam Gateway. Learn when assets are inside or close to machines / vehicles (e.g., service van), with Trackunit Raw.
  • Increase the value of the network set up by connected assets

Read this Help Center article to see how you can track Kin and KinEx tags using Manager or Go.

Configure Kin Alerts

We’ve been evolving Alerts to maximize the positive impact they have on your day-to-day business. You can now create Movement-Based Theft Alerts, Site-Based Theft Alerts, and Logistics Logging Alerts for your Kin tags. This update also works with other third-party BLE-tagged assets so you can configure Alerts for your entire fleet directly in Trackunit Manager
