Trackunit brings site-focused approach in fresh downtime drive

  • Trackunit to attend CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 in Las Vegas, March 14-18
  • Global IoT solutions provider will showcase a new site-focused capability suite
  • New features target site-wide connectivity improvements and CO2 emissions reporting
  • Battle against downtime continues to underpin every Trackunit product and innovation

January 26, 2023, Chicago, IL – Trackunit, the largest global construction-focused IoT platform, is set to showcase two major new solutions at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023.

Trackunit will introduce a set of site-focused features and capabilities to drive efficiencies in the construction industry to the next level allowing users to leverage live machine data with connectivity to build their site-based business processes.

Auto-grouping, sending alerts, and reports triggered by a machine’s presence on a specific site will allow users to easily integrate digital solutions, automate processes and minimize administration of their fleet connectivity.

In addition to these new site-based capabilities, fleet owners can now look forward to enhanced visibility removing blind spots on job sites, inside buildings, storage containers, and tool depots alongside a new CO2 reporting solution.

Where job-site coverage needs to be enhanced, Trackunit’s new gateway device will provide continuous bluetooth connectivity throughout the life of the job site. The gateway device enables visibility to approximate indoor location for Trackunit Kin tracked assets and third party Bluetooth tags while creating a more robust bluetooth network on the job site.

“With our new metadata and pinning capabilities, we can now set up a site to enable tracking in vertical spaces, assigning floor numbers to our Gateway nodes,” said Dave Swan, Senior Vice President, Products. “This is transformational for customers because they can now use the platform to see on which floor a tool is, minimizing downtime.”

Trackunit tested the new launches via a customer Beta program bringing in dedicated and strategically placed Gateways to a worksite to extend coverage for tool tracking.

”With up to 3,000 workers on site, one of our customers estimated that if each worker spends an hour each week looking for tools, this costs approximately $30,000,” said Swan. “Over a year, this adds up to over $1.5 million and 156,000 hours of downtime.

“It’s this type of actionable data that underpins everything we do at Trackunit to help in the battle against downtime, as well as reducing costs in an uncertain macro environment.”

Meanwhile, Trackunit CEO Soeren Brogaard said the new CO2 reporting solution on the Trackunit Manager platform would use data to not only measure but also change behavior.

“For the first time ever, customers will experience a fleet-wide estimate of emissions,” said Brogaard, who wrote extensively on possible sustainability breakthroughs in 2022. “Unlike previous reports that worked only for machines that reported emissions-related data, our solution generates an estimate for every customer and jobsite.”

Brogaard highlighted that the average idle time for machines in construction is 36% while 15% of construction companies have lost business in the last year due to non-compliance with environmental standards. Brogaard added that the construction industry accounts for roughly 19% of all greenhouse emissions.

“We need to change these numbers and we can’t wait a day longer to do so,” said Brogaard. “That’s what these new platform solutions will help the construction industry to do.”

Trackunit’s new Gateway and CO2 reporting solutions will be featured at booth N11929. Gateway hits the market in early Q3 2023 and CO2 reporting will be launched at CONEXPO.
