AALBORG, Denmark, November 5, 2026: Trackunit and Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland have been named joint winners of the Digital Development Award at the 2026 International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs), held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on October 14.
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) presented the award in recognition of the companies’ joint program, which focuses on improving decision making through better use of data.
At the center of the program is a customer portal, an online account where Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland customers see how the equipment they rent is used and performing. Sunbelt Rentals launched it to their customers in November 2025, covering core plant and powered access equipment as well as assets such as tower lights and fuel tanks.
The portal is powered by Trackunit IrisX, a Construction Operating Data Platform. With both sides seeing the same data, Sunbelt Rentals and its customers can make better-informed decisions about how equipment is accessed, used, and maintained.
“This award reflects our continued investment in supporting our customers with connected assets and our shared focus on using data to provide meaningful insights that support safer, more data-led decisions,” said Matthew Ross, Director of Asset Connectivity at Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland.
The award comes as IPAF’s 2026 Check It! campaign calls on the construction industry to share responsibility for equipment safety. The campaign promotes equipment inspection and maintenance to prevent incidents caused by mechanical or technical failure.
In 2024, IPAF received eight reports of major injuries tied to mechanical or technical failures, six of them fatalities. Shared visibility gives rental companies and their contractor customers the same information, so they can act on faults sooner and keep work conditions safe.
The customer portal provides a strong foundation for future digital capabilities, creating a more connected and efficient experience for customers while supporting ongoing innovation across fleet management and equipment operations.
“As safety stops being something we prove afterwards, it becomes something we prevent beforehand,” said Domokos Spéder, VP, Platform Revenue & Partnerships at Trackunit. “This recognition from IPAF reflects what we and Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland are working toward together: making safer equipment operations part of everyday practice.”
